The Magic Of Walt Disney FloridaHas everyone alive imagined visiting Walt Disney Florida? Well, probably there are a few people still around in distant corners of the globe who haven't, but with the growth of global media, increased accessibility to air travel and the spread of Disney films, products and resorts around the world, Walt Disney World has developed into a world-wide icon. The roots of Walt Disney Florida, lie in Disneyland, California. With the rapid success won by Disneyland, Walt Disney quickly realized that a second park in the eastern US could be an even bigger success. Finding the right spot took some time, however. After 4 years of searching, as he flew over the area southwest of Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney himself that here he had found the place to build his dream. Aside from the scenic beauty and available water, there were well established transportation routes and a lot of available land. Certain that his instinct was correct, Disney Corporation secretly started buying up the land they would need for their new masterpiece. Unfortunately Walt Disney never had the opportunity to see his dream come to life since he died before the Magic Kingdom opened. His brother Roy became responsible for the development of what he decided to name Walt Disney World in honor of Walt. Beginning with the Magic Kingdom in 1971, the resort has expanded to include the 4 theme parks, some 20 themed hotels plus themed villas, and additional entertainment centers such as Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest and Disney downtown, the Wide world of Sports and 2 water parks. Persistent rumors about a fifth theme park were temporarily scotched when visitor numbers fell after 9/11 and the poor initial public response to Animal Kingdom. However, now the rumors have revived as visitor numbers have climbed and Animal Kingdom has become significantly more popular. The two usual possibilities cited are a Disney Villains theme park or a Disney Sea theme park to compete with Sea World. Disney has already successfully built a Sea theme park in Japan so many consider this to be the front runner. Walt Disney Florida ranks as one of the most visited tourist spots in the world and all four of the theme parks can be found in the top 10 list of the world's theme parks. With Disney's commitment to ongoing improvement, new and innovative rides and attractions, it is certain to fire the imaginations of yet another generation of delighted visitors. |
