Disney World Ticket Prices - From Disney

Disney World ticket prices are, well, first off they are a bit expensive and they are kind of confusing too. Prices have and no doubt will continue to increase. Currently an adult (i.e. over 10 years old) one day one park ticket costs just over $71 (prices are rounded DOWN to the nearest dollar). Child, defined now by Disney as being 10 years old or younger, one-day one-park tickets cost $59.

If it's been a while since you've been to Disney, you may not be aware of the new deal on expiration. WWith the introduction of the Magic Your Way program Disney World tickets now expire 14 days after first use unless you purchase the extra "No Expiration Option". Then there are also the Park Hopper and the Water Park Fun options.

Your prices on a per day basis drop quite a bit when you purchase multi-day tickets. Both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun options are the same for 1 or 10 days, although the number of visits for the Water Park Fun varies from 3 for a one day ticket to 6 for 7 to 10 day tickets. The No Expiration option gets more expensive ranging from $5 to as high as almost $18 per day for a 9 day ticket.

As an example I priced the tickets for a 7 day Disney adventure for a family of 4 (everyone over 10 years old) with the Park Hopper, Water Park and No Expiration options. At the Disney site the total ticket price was $1682 or about $420 per person or $60 per day per person.

With no options - i.e. being able to enter one park each day, the tickets expire in 14 days and the Water Parks, DisneyQuest, Disney Downtown, etc. not included, the total came to $894 or $223 per person or $32 per day per person. That's quite a bit more reasonable though it is a chunk of cash in total.

Of course, there's no real need to pay these kind of Disney World ticket prices since discounted tickets are widely available and you can save substantially through a variety of advance purchase or package deals. However, you do need to be aware the Disney prices and the various added options so that you can plan appropriately based on your own needs and just what you want to be able to do during your vacation. At a minimum the Park Hopper option is an excellent idea since it will allow you to visit another theme park if the one you chose is just too crowded or exhausting on that particular day.
