Why Not Take A Disney CruiseIf you've never thought about taking a Disney cruise, maybe it's because you still think that cruises are for the middle aged and senior citizens or the idle rich. Things have changed. Disney's style and savvy business sense lead them into shocking the cruise market when they first commissioned the initial Disney cruise ships - Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. Countering the usual wisdom they entered a crowded market and at the same time targeted a younger population with extremely limited history of or apparent interest in cruises. Surprise! Once again Disney has hit, or maybe created, a hot new market. Only the popularity of Disney cruises could justify the recent commissioning of two new cruise ships. And the new ships are nearly 50 per cent larger than the originals. Family cruising has been on a steady increase as Disney's provision of child centered on-board entertainment and set aside areas of the ship solely for the adults to relax in has proved to be a powerful attraction. One aspect of vacationing with a Disney cruise is that despite what looks at first glance as a pretty expensive proposition, you have to remember that a cruise is all-inclusive and self-contained. Almost all food and drinks, entertainment and lodging are all included. When you actually add up all the expenses of a more usual type vacation, a cruise can actually turn out to be a less costly alternative. And, for many, that first cruise is a revelation of a totally different style of vacation that can become nearly an addiction. Disney has gone to some trouble to provide activities targeted at older children as well. This approach has let Disney attract families with teenagers who may have outgrown some of the attractions of Disney World or DisneyLand. With separate adult pools, restaurants, spas and entertainment areas a Disney cruise allows the parents to really relax. Disney cruises operate in the west and east Caribbean and the west coast of the US. There are also cruises to the Bahamas and even specialty European cruises. It's not to hard to find a delightful destination that will to anyone. You'll also have time ashore to visit exotic islands, unusual towns and participate in organized tours of a variety of interesting places. Factors which will influence the price of your Disney cruise include the destination and the time of year as well as the length of the cruise. Disney is no different than other cruise lines and will give you a discount for booking your cruise well in advance. While children in the age range of 3 to 12 receive a child rate, from 13 - 17 it's full adult price. Disney pricing is based on 2 adults in a stateroom. Then any children sharing the room are charged the appropriate rate. 4 or even 5 persons can share a stateroom, but at least one must be an adult. This may sound like a crowd for shipboard cabin, but about the only time you'll be spending much time there is when you're asleep. A Disney cruise can be a great way for a family to experience just why cruising has always been such a popular activity with so many. |
