Finding Discounted Disney World Tickets

Even a quick search on the internet will net you a variety of sites offering discounted Disney World tickets. In most cases, the discounts will range between 20 and 25% on a 5 day Park Hopper ticket. So rather than the $267 you'd pay at the gate or on Disney's website you might pay around $200 - $215. Still, that's not the best deal you can find. A little research can pay off especially if you are booking your travel and lodgings through an agency.

Wherever you eventually buy, buy in advance as you will get a better price as well as have more time to check alternatives. After Disney revised it's ticket pricing and added the Magic Your Way tickets in 2005, multi-day tickets come with substantial discounts over one day passes. Another important change to be aware of is that the tickets are no longer good for a year. Once you first use them they are good for only 14 days. Disney did add an optional no expiration feature but the cost varies from $10 to $165 depending on the number of days. Usually the 14 days should be sufficient unless you plan short 1 or 2 day visits throughout the year. If you are a Florida resident this could be useful - and as a Florida resident with proof of residency you can get additional large discounts.

If you are planning to visit the water parks, DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island or the Wide World of Sports, you may want to get the Water Park Fun option which can add about $53 to the ticket price (if it isn't discounted). This is a fixed price per base ticket without regard to the number of days. However, the number of visits to the included attractions varies from 3 to 6. Usually 2 visits to the covered attractions more than covers the added cost.

If you are tough-minded enough and don't mind wasting half a day, free or reduced price tickets can be had by attending time-share presentations. Since you have to wait until you arrive this is not a really great alternative nor is it usually a fun experience. Discounted Disney World tickets can often be included in as a part of your vacation or tour package and since agents normally have access to deeply discounted tickets, you may be able to actually negotiate a very significant savings.
